Partner Stories: March 2024

Yenet Ministries

With over two decades of civil war and two million people displaced, South Sudanese families often find themselves feeling trapped in a cycle of trauma, poverty, and despair.

Our partners, Milton and Scovia, seek to offer the hope found in Jesus to the women and youth shouldering the daily stress of displacement and an uncertain future.

This past month, Yenet hosted two events for women and young girls. At one of these events held in Kajo Keji, 173 young girls attended. They came as far as Adjumani and Palorinya refugee settlements.

Ibsa Abdia Ministries

Shadrach* recently returned from a region closed to the gospel where he continued to disciple four known Muslim Background Believers (MBB) and shared the gospel with receptive families. He was praying for 3 new professions of faith.

“This trip was so fulfilling for me,” shares Shadrach. “More people were receptive to the gospel message than in times past. I was able to speak to a large gathering that I have never experienced since coming here.”

With the known Christ-followers, they continued their study through the books of Mark and Acts. Shadrach models a discovery Bible study method to help them learn to be self-feeders from God’s Word.

They spent their days studying and then reserved time in the evenings to share the gospel one-on-one with families. “If families were open, we shared the Jesus Film in the privacy of their homes or listened to audio Bibles,” shares Shadrach. “Our prayer was that 3 more people would decide to follow Jesus. God answered our prayer! One couple and another individual made professions of faith during our time.”

Shadrach is actively planning his return and thinking of creative ways to continue discipling these new believers.

Community Network Ministries (CNM)

Community Network Ministries (CNM) has been raising funds for a new building after its previous structure collapsed following severe weather. After months of saving, they completed the grass-thatched building in time for Easter celebrations.

But more importantly, EOM began their Easter weekend by heading to the water to baptize 57 new followers of Jesus. The shore was full of people singing and lined up to be baptized!

Ever on Mission (EOM)

Life in a refugee settlement is very fluid. Families pass through the camp regularly. As a result, church members and leaders also move in and out of the church fellowship. Recently, the Ever on Mission (EOM) team headed to the Omugo Zone of the Upper Rhino Refugee Settlement to help relaunch a partner church that is currently lacking in mature leadership.

Ecclesia Ministries (EM)

Paul* is currently casting vision to leaders in the JM* region. He is challenging each of these house fellowships to start a new church this year. Also, local leaders have invited Ecclesia Ministries (EM) to share God’s Word through the schools in this region. This unique invitation will help strategically place teachers in the schools to teach the Bible as a course subject offering for the students.
