The story of Zalingei, SudanZalingei holds a special place in the heart of Paul* and the other leaders of Ecclesia Ministries. In 2010, it was the first place they began a house church among Muslim background believers (MBBs). Over the next 12 years, that first church planted an additional 47 house fellowships in the surrounding area.
By 2020, they were able to secure a building and hold the church gathering outside someone’s home. Seasons of growth were followed by unrest and persecution, yet the church remained. Due to targeted persecution, Paul had to evacuate from Zalingei for his safety and the continuance of the ministry.

Ecclesia has been waiting for a time to return to Zalingei and pick back up the work they started. Along with missionary teams sent to propel the goal of reestablishing this area as a sending headquarters, those daughter churches that remain are preparing people to join them in sharing the gospel, making disciples, and establishing new churches in the region.

A window has opened for Ecclesia Ministries to return to Zalingei and make Jesus’ name known.
Five locations have been identified for outreach and the start of new house churches toward the re-establishing of Zalingei as a missional headquarters.
