The story of Wedweil Refugee Settlement
Wedweil Refugee Settlement is home to over 14,700 Sudanese refugees forced to flee their homes due to unrest. Located outside Aweil, South Sudan, Ecclesia Ministries has begun some outreach by planting one church, but the numbers are so great they want to send some more leaders in to help reach this community.
Over 11.5 million people have been displaced as a result of the conflict in Sudan. Many of these are women and children. As of the end of 2024, more than 14,700 Sudanese refugees were staying at the Wedweil Refugee settlement in Aweil, South Sudan.
Paul* and Ecclesia Ministries have started one church in the settlement, but with increasing numbers, the opportunity and the need for more home fellowships are great. Paul has a leader ready to mobilize to go to the settlement. Once there, he will join his friend, and together they will reach out to the community and begin to gather new believers in a house fellowship.
Also nearby is another global partner, Lual with Community Network Ministries, to collaborate in the work if needed.
