The story of Renk, South Sudan

It is estimated that over 10 million people have been displaced due to the latest unrest in Sudan. Around 2 million of these have sought refuge and safe haven in neighboring countries.

Renk, a South Sudan border town, has served as an entry point for so many fleeing their homes in search of shelter in refugee settlements. Paul* and Ecclesia Ministries believe there are hundreds of thousands of Sudanese refugees in Renk.

According to UNHCR, “an average of 1,600 people every day cross the border into South Sudan to escape the conflict in Sudan, threatening to overwhelm the small transit centres where they first arrive.”

It is in this border town that Ecclesia Ministries wants to carry the hope of the gospel to those in despair. A team of missionaries is ready to go to Renk with the purpose of establishing a new church plant. Through evangelistic outreach, intentional discipleship, and training they will start new house churches in this community.
