The story of Morobo, South Sudan
Taban launched Ever on Mission (EOM) and is one of our global partners seeking to advance the gospel of Jesus in the region of northern Uganda, southern South Sudan, and northeast DR Congo. This area is known by locals as Salia Musala, which is where Uganda, DR Congo, and South Sudan all share a border.
Salia Musala means “three stones.” It is a term used to describe the three stones used to support an outdoor fire stove. Many people in this area are refugees and move freely across the borders
The town of Morobo lies within this Salia Musala region at the intersection of two routes entering South Sudan from both Uganda and the DRC. With a population of over 116,000 and an estimated 27,380 internally displaced people (IDPs), this crossroads town is developing into a major urban center.
On an initial survey trip to the area, EOM met with local authorities and received permission to begin the work of establishing a new church.
A melting pot town, people from differing cultures collide uniquely, making it easier for people to share life and the gospel.
With a little more support for subsequent visits and some resources, EOM is eager to begin the work on a new church plant later this year.
