Shepherding Their Sheep

Their leadership during the conference is part of their development, too.

Taban and Ever on Mission (EOM) are committed to the development of leaders. They recently held a Conference, or Summit, for their growing network of churches focused on church leadership and shepherding towards leadership succession in the church. As part of their leadership development pipeline, those leading the summit are also being discipled. Their leadership during the conference is part of their development, too.

Vita, one of these developing leaders, shares more about the Summit:

“We conducted the Summit at one of our network churches in Omugo II Refugee Settlement.  Eighty (80) people from the network, as well as other nearby churches, were in attendance.

The focus of the Summit was to challenge leaders with developing intentional church leadership and shepherding so that they will be able to set ministry continuity and leadership succession in the church. The church leaders are to exemplify good shepherding of the flock of God in the church (Ephesians 4:12). This requires thorough teaching, tutelage, and mentorship.

We taught on the importance of nurturing the church to continuous and healthy spiritual growth in the knowledge of the Word of God so that both the leaders and the congregation will be examples as Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 3:2. We encouraged attendees to persevere in this noble calling despite all challenges that they're going through. Commissioned by Christ Jesus in Matthew 28:18-20, the church is to go boldly together in the mission of sharing the gospel.

We received great feedback from the participants. We reached the point that the participants requested more days for the Summit. They shared that they were being encouraged and challenged to walk strong in faith and have good church leadership.

As the Summit ended, we challenged everyone to continue carrying out the gospel, fellowshipping together, and for all church leaders to shepherd their sheep. All for the glory of God.”
