The story of Bweyale Refugee Settlement
Housed in the Bweyale Refugee Settlement in Kiryandongo, Uganda are approximately 80,000 refugees. These residents are primarily from South Sudan, but also from Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Kenya, and Sudan.
Paul* and Ecclesia Ministries estimate that over 5,000 Sudanese refugees live there. They are not aware of anyone reaching this specific demographic with the gospel, and they want to change that.
Two teams of two missionaries each, are ready to be deployed to Bweyale. These two teams will live outside the Settlement but actively move within, canvassing the areas with the gospel and establishing small group church communities. They seek to establish churches within the Sudanese community initially, but with the intermingling of so many nationalities, they can anticipate a multi-ethnic church body.
Because the area is largely a refugee community, food and housing costs are a bit higher.
