Preparing to Return
“We are the most fortunate…”
These students use every minute that God has given them to learn His Word so they are able to preach and share when they get back to their home country. Paul* shares a bit about some of the Bible school students he disciples:
“This has been a difficult time in our nation’s history. Our home of Sudan has experienced unrest for some time now. So many people are confused as to what to do or where to go. For those who are followers of Christ, many fled to Uganda, and have joined the Church. They are seeking to grow, learning God’s Word with the purpose of preparing to return back to Sudan and help those remaining in spiritual darkness.
When I surveyed the Bible students, I asked them what their main purpose was while in Uganda and for the future? I discovered that there was a unifying goal. This purpose was similar to my own when I first fled due to unrest so many years ago. We all want to study God’s word so that we can go back to our home country to help our people remaining in darkness to know the truth of Jesus.
Here are some sort testimonies from some of the Bible students:”
Timothy* -
“I am always remembering my people who are left in the darkness. I am doing everything to learn more about the Word of God and go back to help my people get out from the darkness to the light of Jesus”
John* -
“It is true that we were left behind in so many ways. We were even denied to know the truth about God. But God has opened a door for us to come to know Him. We have been given an opportunity. I want to use it carefully to study God’s Word and go back to my country and share Jesus, beginning with my own family, then to my neighbors, and to the world.”
Eli* -
“I thank God for His goodness. I thank him for saving me and bringing me out of Sudan to Uganda. Now I am seeing the door that God has opened for me to study His Word and go back to rescue my people from the darkness to light; from the slavery of Islam to the freedom of Jesus!”
Matthew*, the pastor of a local church said,
“We are the most fortunate of the Sudanese people. We hear everyday things that are happening to the people in Sudan. It brings us to tears. But, we must use every minute that God has given us here to learn His Word so that we are able to preach and share with our people when we get back to our country.”
Andrew* -
“I am here to study God’s Word and go back to my country to preach the gospel to my people.”
Nathan* said,
“There is no one reaching our Muslim community with the Word of God. I am seeing this is the perfect opportunity for me to learn more about God’s Word and go back to share with my community.”
