Daughters of the Kingdom
They hear how God loves them equally.
Gianna* lives in the Khamsa Dagaig IDP (internally displaced person) camp in Zalingei. She was Muslim and she gave her life to Christ last December during our team outreach in the settlement.
Gianna said, “The Word of God is so sweet that I can’t stay without my Bible. I take it with me everywhere. I even carry it with me into the kitchen. I have to be with it! But most importantly, I am sharing with my friends what I am learning because in God’s Word, there is power to change!”
In much of our community, Paul* shares, women are considered second-class citizens. It is heartbreaking, but many are treated like servants or slaves. It is often taught that the value or worth of women is half that of men. The testimony of two women is equal to that of one man. Even boys and girls in the same family are treated differently. It is estimated that nearly 80% of girls and young women have not attended school due to this worldview.
But in Christianity, women hear about the love of God. They hear how God loves them equally. Jesus hears their prayers. They see they are valued and have the same worth as men in God’s creation. They are not slaves but daughters equal to men in His Kingdom.
Their ministry and testimony have become very important to the spread of the gospel. As they depart from Islam to Christianity, they have a dynamic impact on families. When a woman changes, the family changes. If women’s ministry is reinforced it is very easy to transform communities.
During an evangelistic activity last year in Jebel Marra, Aliya* heard about and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Aliya comes from an Islamic background. She was a teacher of the Qur’an in the local primary school.
She said, “This Bible and all the other materials containing God’s Word have changed my life. I was in total darkness and now have a new experience in the light of God. Now, I am going to use this Bible and this messenger (audio Bible) to share the good news of Jesus with my students in the school and with my fellow women who are still living in the darkness.”
Aliya also wanted to express her thanks. “Thank you so much to everyone who is standing behind us to have access to the Word of God. And I want to encourage you all to continue providing for us Bibles and evangelical materials because they are the source of hope and life for my community.”
God designed His Church to work together — from our neighborhoods to the ends of the earth.
