They caught the vision to live on mission.

Together we are Ever on Mission.

After finishing our time with Yenet In Pagirinya Refugee Settlement, we transitioned to Busia, outside Koboko, to work with another Known partner, Ever on Mission (EOM). EOM’s vision is to advance the gospel, develop leaders, and plant a network of mission-minded churches in Uganda, South Sudan, and DR Congo. Busia is emerging as a hub for training and deployment. EOM recently has been working to extend its network to other churches that also see the need to work together on mission. During our time with EOM, we helped share the gospel in the community, joined them in worship and teaching on Sunday, and helped train leaders of the network churches.

Shortly after we arrived and greeted everyone at the church, we split up into small groups to share the gospel with those in the community. Each experience was different. Some went to the town center and encountered large groups of people. Others had long discussions answering questions on faith like what to do when your spouse is not a Christ follower. While each group’s circumstances varied, we were all faithful to share the truth of the gospel. We continue to pray God uses seeds planted to draw people to Himself.

On Sunday, we all had the opportunity to share in a morning worship gathering. We shared testimonies, helped with communion and baby dedications, and preached. It was a sweet time to worship with other believers. Following the morning gathering 5 were baptized in the River Kaya including 2 who decided to follow Jesus that morning.

We finished our time with EOM sharing with the ministry leaders of the churches they are approaching to join the network. It was a time when we all sharpened each other. Men’s ministry leaders, women’s, student, and children’s leaders and pastors all divided up and our team facilitated discussions around being on mission, purity, holiness, and discovery Bible studies. Before we left, leaders expressed their appreciation and asked if it was possible to be a part of the work of EOM. They caught the vision to reach their community (and beyond) with the gospel.

From the team:

Hungry!

“This is Coffee. He served as a translator for me in Busia. I was so impressed by his love for God, and his hunger for scriptural knowledge. It encouraged and at the same time challenged me to pray for that same hunger in my life.

The thrill of hope.

I thought I knew hope but turns out I had to go halfway across the world to truly grasp the depths of it. Every single new friend that I met in Uganda seemingly had no reason to hope. So much poverty and violence and also, such complicated, multi-faceted issues at that. Issues that money could never solve, contrary to what I used to assume.

But oh the hope I saw. Hope in things not seen. Hope that all of the awfulness we endure in this life will someday be rewarded if we only believe in the one true Savior, and that’s the only hope we can truly hold onto because nothing else in life is promised.

Everything else can change and fade in an instant, but not Christ. So I pray that if you’ve never known that hope, that you find it before it’s too late.

For I consider the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. Romans 8:17-18.”

-Jacque
