Learning from the life of Joseph.
Yenet helps youth identify with biblical figures.
Milton shares:
“This past weekend, we met with 15 young people. This was fewer than our usual 60, due to a village funeral in Pagirinya Refugee Settlement. Together, we reflected on Genesis chapters 37, 38, and 39. We reflected on Joseph’s early life, his dreams, and his brothers' jealousy which led to his being sold into slavery. We also discussed Joseph’s time in Egypt, his work in Potiphar’s house, and his integrity when tempted by Potiphar’s wife.
Studying Joseph’s life is especially relevant today because, like many refugees, he was in a foreign land, facing adversity, and uncertainty. Yet through resilience, integrity, and trust in God, he overcame his challenges and rose to a position of leadership and influence. His journey mirrors what many refugees are going through today. Joseph serves as a great biblical figure from which these youth can learn.
We plan to continue exploring Joseph's story when we meet again in November.”
