Beyond the Game
We are partnering with Milton and Scovia Mansuk and helping them to launch Yenet Ministries as they serve South Sudanese refugees and northern Ugandans.
Milton shares how Yenet is fostering an environment where youth can learn more about God.
At this weekend’s sports ministry outreach, we had an amazing evening before our game! We gathered for a moment of prayer and shared our gratitude for the week. Peter, shared that he’s happy to have found a new family with us. He feels like he’s at home here, where he’s cared for, respected, loved, and listened to.
We also had an insightful chat about peer pressure – what it is, the different types, and how to handle it. Tomorrow, we’re digging deeper into the consequences if we give in to it. What’s really awesome is that our time together goes beyond just playing a game. It’s becoming a special space where we all feel valued, loved, and supported. It has become a safe spot where we can play, be ourselves, and learn from each other, regardless of age – age is just a number here. It’s mind-blowing learning from these young souls. Excited for what’s coming next!
Right before our game, we dove into a special moment – prayer and gratitude. Each player shares a heartfelt thanks to God, a tradition we’ve embraced to discover positivity amidst life’s toughest challenges.
In my interactions with the team, it’s crystal clear that many are battling low self-esteem, possibly due to past traumas, abusive experiences, or a lack of supportive surroundings. In the upcoming days, I’ve decided to dedicate a session to address this critical issue. Together, we’ll embark on a journey toward building their self-esteem.
